In a home-like setting, we will demonstrate care, including bathing; oral care; management of loss of bladder and bowel control; assisting with lifting and walking; assisting with dressing; using special equipment to make life easier; and feeding and nutrition. We recommend that persons with dementia NOT attend.
By the end of this daylong program, caregivers will be able to:
- List six things that trigger behavioral problems and how to avoid them
- Use basic communication skills to avoid confrontation
- Describe two care options to supplement the care provided by family
- Meet basic personal care needs for someone with moderate dementia.
