Community project launches in Tucson
Banner Alzheimer's Institute rocks dementia care
Nearly 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease today. As the numbers continue to grow in Arizona, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is working to support those diagnosed and their families to live successfully as the disease progresses.
Our focus isn’t on grief or fear but instead the groundbreaking research and extraordinary care that will help us end Alzheimer’s before losing another generation. Our multidisciplinary team works with the family to guide them through their journey. Certainly, dementia can present challenges, but it can also provide opportunities to experience joy and life in a new way.
Join us in our effort to share with the community how to be inspired by the network of support, caring providers and overall understanding of what these families are facing by designing a rock. We encourage you to leave an inspiring word or phrase on the rocks and place them somewhere within the community. You’ll be surprised to find how your simple message of support, love and care will uplift your fellow neighbors. Maybe when they need it most.
Help us change the way people think about dementia and come together as a community to make a difference in a meaningful way.
How to Participate
We have rocks ready for you to leave your creative mark. Please come to Banner Alzheimer's Institute, 2626 E. River Road in Tucson, and take a rock from our lobby between 9am and 4pm Monday through Friday. Please note masks are required when entering the building.
At home, you will paint, draw, or write messages as they resonate with you. Once complete, leave it somewhere within the community to share your inspiration.
To help us spread our message of help and hope, we want you to share your pictures! Share pictures during your creation process or show an ambiguous photo of where you leave it to give us a hint as to where the rock might be found. Tag us on Facebook @BAITucson, we will share your pictures.
